The Crawford Brothers Honey Pear Meade is the same recipe as the Honey Apple Meade, except that pear juice is used instead of apple juice. As with its sibling, the Honey Pear Meade is, technically, a melomel.
So far, I have used commercial, pasteurized pear juice, since I don't have a source for anything fresh-pressed.
The honey comes from The Honeyman's outlet shop in Prescott, Arizona.
There have been several batches of this (at least 4).
Made with pasteurized pear juice in glass bottles and clover honey. Due to a misunderstanding with the size of the bottles, this was actually a half batch with as much honey as a full batch. At bottling time, it was not particularly sweet and, was a little boozy but, tasted great. Hoping it will carbonate with the priming honey. 10/2023 update: carbonated fine; strong pear flavor; very potent.
